India Smith

India Smith is a psychotherapist with a Master’s degree from the University of Chicago, where she studied clinical social work. India has experience working with adolescents and adults on a wide range of clinical issues including anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and trauma. India has most recently worked in substance abuse treatment where she offered both individual and group addiction counseling. India is passionate about perinatal mental health and is interested in working with new parents as they navigate at the complex issues associated with planning, pregnancy, and parenthood.

In addition to her professional experience, India is a member of the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy where she is completed a 2-year psychoanalytic training program.

As a clinician, India works from a psychodynamic, relational framework that places emphasis on creating a safe holding environment and trusting relationship between the client and the therapist. She is passionate about harm reduction and aims to engage clients with warmth and empathy, regardless of their readiness for change. She is also interested in the mind-body connection and appreciates the integration of mindfulness and meditation into psychotherapy. India believes that change and growth occur when we are able to understand how our past informs our present and when we discover new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
